Well, the polygamy revelation was revised to drop the requirement that wives subsequent to the first had to be Native American. Brigham Young tried 2 and found them lacking, so he abandoned them in Council Bluffs Iowa and had the revelation rewritten.
There was also, IIRC, at one time the first wife had to give consent for subsequent wives, but that was found to be unworkable. First wives still needed to give consent, but their husbands could do so on their behalf.
