There are still places in the US where even being perceived as an atheist can be detrimental to your property, your pets, and yourself. In one small Mississippi town I lived in, I was shunned, my tires slashed, and my cats killed not because I had openly declared myself an atheist, but because I was seen reading Atheism: The Case Against God by George H. Smith.
That is unbelievable. Talk about intolerance. And they say they're the ones being oppressed and ganged up on. Oh how they love to play victim.
So they are dead against freedom of speech and expression, freedom of thought and even try to dictate what you should believe and even read. Communists anyone? These people are against freedom. They obviously don't support it.
Religion is pretty much a dictatorship, no freedom or democracy.
I wonder how they would like it if they were picked on for believing in god.
Christianity, and in fact all monotheisms, are about totalitarianism - not democracy. Unless, of course, that democracy votes in THEIR totalitarian regime.
Christians ARE communists! Mark 10:21 "Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. " The early Christians did just that. Acts 2:44-45:"And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need." Okay, many modern Christians would not dream of such a thing. They believe in ownership of things. Many people follow a modern "Prosperity Gospel", where their belief in God and tithes to the church and voting according to the voter guides will make them fabulously wealthy.
Try telling them that Jesus taught communism, that the early christians practiced communism, with the above scriptural references, and they can't accept it, and will probably try an ad-hominum attack, even though you're giving them information from their own scriptures.... ones which aren't often taught in Sundae School.
