Yeah, I guess I didn't make my sarcasm strong enough. So: I think this decision SUCKS and is cowardly.
Truthfully, I hate laws, regulations, restrictions. Unfortunately, they are a necessary evil. A real-world example relevant to me is speed bumps. I hate the fucking things. They increase wear and tear on your car's front end. But I recently voted for the mobile park I live in to install them. Why? Because a number of irresponsible residents won't drive through the complex at a safe speed without them.
There are always going to be immoral, irresponsible, inconsiderate, ASSHOLES. They are everywhere and if you don't reign in their behavior, they will gleefully assume the role of ants in the picnic of life.
Clickbaiters are just an annoyance? I agree. But so are spammers. So are Trolls. Neither trolls nor spammers impact my life beyond pissing me off on message boards. But they are mercilessly hammered into internet obscurity by bloodthirsty mods who celebrate banishing them like a teenage boy celebrates kissing another girl. But clickbaiters get a pass because we're suppressing them? BULLSHIT! Fucking bullshit! Clickbaiters are an internet scourge every bit the equal of spammers and trolls.
Sure, you can ignore threads with stupid titles. You can also ignore threads advertising penis enlargement. You can ignore threads and posts obviously intended to do nothing but provoke angry responses. What's the difference?
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
