Quote:Yet the two biblical scholars who feature in the movie, Gary Habermas and William Lane Craig, both teach at institutions (Liberty University and Biola University, respectively) that require their faculty to sign statements affirming that they believe the Bible is inspired by God and is free of any contradictions, historical inaccuracies or moral failings. For example, the Liberty University faculty application requires assent to the following statement:
The overwhelming majority of professional biblical scholars teaching in the United States and elsewhere are not required to sign such statements of faith. Many of the other scholars he interviews in his book have similar affiliations. Strobel has thus drawn from a quite narrow range of scholars that are not representative of the field as a whole. (I estimate there are somewhere around 10,000 professional biblical scholars globally.)
Nonetheless, one can bet that the morons will be jerking off to this absurd movie. Let's call it "Jesus Porn."
Well.... your boy argues the Romans didn't put victims in tombs right away, and "probably" left Jesus hanging for a day or so. Jews bury their dead before sundown. And with the Sabbath looming, it would be more important to bury Him pronto. Romans respected Jewish religious rights to keep them civil and obedient. So, there's a blaring mistake for Landau's argument. Which he should've been well aware of! Plus, he doesn't state where he gets his info about delayed burials.
Seems pretty dumb to argue a minute point when Landau thinks Strobel has no argument at all. Maybe to fill space between his ears?
The devils....eh, truth is in the details. IF a subject is to be torn down, it needs to be done from within the argument. 5000 manuscripts were written because a LOT of people believed the scripture was truth.
The biggest argument for Jesus, IMO, is the Eucharist. Jesus lost half, or more of His following with the words: “Unless you eat my body and drink my blood, there is no life in you.” That is the single most important "Case for Christ" in my book!
That was counter-cultural, and "unclean" to everything about the Jewish traditions of the day! There is no way a "made-up" Messiah would be saying that stuff. NONE! That wouldn't get you far then.... and obviously still not very popular these days either. Only to those "with understanding".
