Spoken like a guy who has no fucking idea about how games, or even most other programs work.
Mods depend on the game engines limitations, security and integrity functions and a healthy helping of knowing that a binary injection only goes so far.
Hot Cofee as a mod merely found a favorable stage in the game and jumped one there. By contrast, the total conversion mods of Starcraft were never able to redo the spells aspect of Starcraft because it was a blackbox to them (really, modding spells in Starcraft is a little like chanting incoherently and hoping for a favorable result).
