I'm reminded of a number of weeks ago when my wife dragged me to church, part of the priest's homily was about a fellow priest in another town being relocated because the people there didn't like him. He added as an example how when he was growing up that he heard an adult say to another adult how the priest at his church didn't like kids, so as he was growing up he didn't like that priest because he thought that he didn't like children, and it was unfair to that priest to have that reputation. The gist of the homily was that we shouldn't criticize priests, being that there's a shortage and all, because Satan uses that criticism to turn people against the priests. So it's best to never say anything bad about any priests at all.
The rebuttal in my mind was "Bullshit! Nobody is above criticism or reproach if there's a valid reason for it. Nobody, not even myself, gets a free pass. And in light of church sex scandals, especially priests."

Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
