Actually, birth control medication has improved quite a bit during the last years. Now there are alternatives to hormone-packed pills that give all those side effects (not to mention that you can't take them if you have migraines and your family has a history of thrombosis). For instance, the brilliant "p-ring" that doesn't give those side effects and is safe to use even for one with migraines.
But I do understand if one doesn't want to mess with the hormonal balance of one's body. Condoms are still my favorite contraception method
