There are plenty of gay people that live in big cities that aren't threatened by small town politics, and so sticking it to liberals or guns or immigration or abortion is a bigger priority for them. It's the same as poor people that vote for Republicans. The GOP is completely clear that they want to get rid of programs that help poor people and give tax breaks to the rich, but they have these people by the giblets because Guns, God, 'Bortions, and 'Murrica.
The entire point is that this is a parade. It's not a free for all public event where anybody that wants one gets a float. The Gays for Trump are perfectly capable of showing up for Pride and celebrating at the parade, but they are not entitled to march in it.
I'll say it again, if there were an Easter Parade in any town, and the Westboro Baptist Church showed up to have a "God Hates Fags" float, there would be no problem with denying them a place in the parade. They have the right to be at the event though, and even though the organizers and the WBP are both Christian, they don't stand for the same things and don't have the same message.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
