She was the first one in the family that I informed about my sexuality when I was in high school. She was very accepting of me and she never told my father.

I am not in contact with my family. My boyfriend has contact with some of them on Facebook. My sister informed him that my stepmother died.
I do not know if I want to attend the funeral or not. I believe I might be able to ignore my father at the funeral, but I honestly do not want to see him. Besides, it will be a religious ceremony, and I am reticent in that respect as well.
After all, must I be there to respect the life and memory of that individual? Absolutely not.
