What I thought happened in this thread grossly over simplified:
Cows are the tallest animals in the world
--So you're saying Cows are taller than Giraffes?
Nobody is saying Cows are taller than Giraffes! Strawman!
Got to help me follow what you're saying here. Are you suggesting the "Cows are the tallest animals in the world" statement is akin to saying "there are important parallels between Trump and Hitler"?
If so, then you must mean for "--So you're saying Cows are taller than Giraffes?" to correspond to your protesting that Hitler is actually much worse.
Hmmm
This works better if we adjust the first statement like this:
"Cows are the tallest bovine animals in the world
--So you're saying Cows are taller than Giraffes?
Nobody is saying Cows are taller than Giraffes! Straw man!"
Or, if we make "tallness" substitute for "awfulness" ("evil" if you prefer), then I think we get an even better reflection of the exchange that has gone on in this thread:
"Cows are the tallest animals in America.
--So you're saying Cows are taller than Giraffes?
Nobody is saying Cows are taller than Giraffes! Straw man!"
Which corresponds more closely to our actual exchange which was more like:
Trump comes closer to being like Hitler than any president we've ever had.
--So you're saying Trump is more like Hitler than Hitler himself?
Derp. Straw man.
