I was not discounting the male birth control option.
In fact, it is something I would support.
However, men tend to remain children most of their lives; which includes areas of responsibility. I highly doubt most men who merely want to engage in sex for the pleasure are going to be responsible enough to take a pill. It is not coded in the typical male DNA to be responsible.
It depends on the man. I guess I give men more credit than you do, but there are enough who fit your quoted description as well. Not all women practice safe sex options and not all men will either. Having one more option out there for the sex who currently has the fewest options is likely going to help a lot. There will of course be people on both sides who will ignore these options, but the gap will be far smaller than before.
