I'd wager most preachers aren't Levites.
Tithing is %60-80 fabricated if the Bible itself weren't %100 fabricated.
A lot of Christians don't care much for welfare but they don't mind giving their money to a Church that isn't giving them a useful service.

According to Genesis 28:22 (CEB) believers should fork over 10% of their gross each time they go to church.
"This stone that I’ve set up as a sacred pillar will be God’s house, and of everything you give me I will give a tenth back to you.”
