Well considering the snooty priests and Romans liked to go around killing anybody who mentioned Christianity, it's not surprising many people preferred to keep their heads down!
Nevertheless, 27 books about Jesus got through the net and were published, many of them written by the ex-bounty hunter Paul who had joint Roman/Jewish citizenship..
