They saw him as unamerican -because- of his brown skin and muslim name, you realize? The man himself was as american as apple pie. Purportedly believed in god, a friend of business, a brutally effective warlord, moms was from kansas, his daddy was on a visa to learn in the greatest country ion the world...born in honolulu... and he was a senator in Illinois, who made his nut as a constitutional lawyer....... for a faith based community initiative.
If he were any more american it would make -me- nauseous.......but that's not how people saw him, huh, lol?
Hell, his namesake achievement, lifted whole clothe from republican ideology and policies. I don;t know why anyone has an urge to pretend that anything about american (or the republicans) opposition to him was principled, in any way shape or form. We're a country who either refuses to believe or refuses to openly acknowledge it;s racism...and that all but ensures that it will persist and be available for use for the next helpful little bastard to run along and leverage it. As one Don Trump did. Those people are still denying what they know about themselves and what anyone with eyes and ears can tell about them. They'll go to their graves denying it...but, unfortunately, it won't go to it's grave with them.
