The good thing however is that we are seeing signs that the intel community isn't going to be pushed around. Even many members of the EPA who have been moved to desk jobs or fired, are speaking out. Media despite what 45 is attempting are also fighting back, maybe not all, but certainly WP and NYT, and many others.
I would give up all hope. I would say our best bet is to continue poking 45 with insults and ridicule as much as possible so he eventually hangs himself.
Even McConnell has unwittingly admitted 45 doesn't know what the fuck he is doing when he said just yesterday that 45 doesn't understand how long the process can be and how complicated it can be when referring to the GOPs inability to overturn the ACA.
There are cracks in the 45 WH, it is up to the rest of us to exploit those cracks.
My biggest worry, and I cannot stress this enough; I am not a conspiracy theorist. However....do you know what Operation Northwoods was about? I am very concerned that there is something like this brewing within the Trump admin. Either to A) Get him reelected, B) Somehow declare a martial law so he can have absolute power. Maybe I've just lost my marbles at this point, you tell me. But I really don't think it's that far fetched, at least for option A. Mostly because it's easier for a sitting president to get reelected during war time. Just remember Bush...
A conspiracy at that level while not impossible, would still be improbable in the same way Nixon ultimately didn't get away with what he did. As flawed as our system is. Just on the intel issue alone it is not like Nazi Germany where intel had to swear an oath to one party. In America from our military to our Secret Service, to our CIA to or FBI to our State Department you are NOT required as an individual to swear an oath to a political party, your oath is to defense of the constitution. Since we have all of those institutions full of politically diverse individuals it is virtually impossible. The number of people required to keep the amount of secrets in such diverse institutions with democrats and republicans literally working on the same things and sharing intel would make that virtually impossible.
Can the GOP do damage, certainly? But it is going to take alot more purging of non party members to ever get to that point and I really don't see that happening. Worst case is we simply regress on some issues. I will only agree if the GOP keeps growing their lopsided power long term then sure, it becomes more possible. But as it stands now, no, I don't see that happening. 45 has been bitch slapped by courts on immigration, multiple times, he hasn't been able to repeal the ACA even after 7 years of the GOP trying.
Think about it, gay marriage still went nationwide and that wont go away now.
Your biggest worry right now would be WW3.
