Um not sure what you mean by this. Feel free to correct me if you feel I am wrong on something.
I am hardly PC, but we are not talking about free speech.
1. We are talking about government property being used to display memorials that glorify men who fought to keep the idea of owning another human being.
Again, that would be no different to me if Germany still had statues glorifying Hitler and his goons.
2. We are also talking about White Nationalists groups hiding behind the words "free speech" when what they really are doing is shouting fire in a theater in code. When you show up with weapons AND at the same time shout racist sick crap, that is not free speech, that is incitement to violence. Incitement to violence is not protected speech.
3. Those assholes are being embolden by a president who spent 5 years perpetuating the fear of a black man with his birther bullshit. Started his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists. Also vilified Muslims. Made comments about assaulting protesters at his rallies. Vilified Hillary by "joking" about armed treasonous insurrection "2nd Amendment". Vilified and still does, the free press. Shit on the very intel he now has to depend on.
The climate is toxic politically and 45 is the root cause of what we are seeing today.
Removing the glorification of slave ownership is not an end to free speech. It is correcting our history and putting it in the right context.
