I don't do that, but there are Muslims who do stuff their faces during the breaking of the fast (called "Iftar"), which is not a good thing.
The healthier way to eat is to start with a water (or a juice like Tang or lemonade) and small fruits and dates before eating anything else. The reason for this is to put fluid into the body first since that is what our bodies need the most. Then, we are supposed to eat a light meal and not something too heavy because the digestion system has been on a rest for quite a long time. It's not going to be good for our health if we eat too much food all at once (or at one sitting). So, it's important that we eat slowly and moderately upon breaking the fast and especially drink lots of water.
