His rants do provide an interesting view into the mind of a Trump supporter, IMO. I mean, there's a reason why Trump went hog wild over the notion of bringing coal jobs back... there's many people who think that legitimate work means toiling away in shitty conditions and dying in their 50s or 60s. Never mind that these jobs are rapidly being replaced by robots, or are being eliminated by market forces, it simply appeals to the base notion that work = a monotonous grind, and the nature of that grind determines a person's value.
I mean, 'bringing coal back' means, what... a few extra thousand jobs? That's nothing in a nation of 300+ million people. But it sells because it's 'honest' work and tugs at the nostalgia centers of our brains.
It's an outdated mindset to have as we rapidly become a service and information economy.
