I am anything but alone on this. You yourself hold to the essence of this position when thinking of pagans and "heretics", spreading false gospel. Theist and atheist alike can think of religions that are not representative of "the beauty of human nature". "The beauty of human nature" is not in itself a factual statement. At least not an objective one. It is only beautiful to us ; and not everyone believes in the beaty of human nature. In fact, some christians come to mind. We are all wicked, our very hearts condemn us. I find it difficult to believe that you don't already know this. Because these are the people advocating the idea of original sin, and you're in a thread called "a question about original sin". Lastly, of course, you are a christian, but apparently not "one of those" christians, probably because there are no "true christians".
Hope is beautiful and real, i find it very necessary too. Do you find yourself looking to the next moment in which you know of what it will be but are not apart of it yet. Thinking about whats going to happen and being slightly anxious. This is hope and what hope is this, that installs my day as to never be so inclined to this moment, that i might think about another. But for many it is a beautiful thing to look past what is now and persevere to what will happen. Hope is strange and very selfish but it is what we have. If we are all condemned, then wouldn't hope be all we have or for you the hope that we are not wicked? As for original sin, when Adam sinned, sin entered the world. What is a "true christian"?
