I love music that mixes technique and emotion -- Rush does that for me, some Yes, Eric Johnson ... but KC just leaves me high and dry. Don't get me wrong, I can admire their technical precision, but emotionally the music does nothing for me. I feel much the same way about artists like Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen, Flatt and Scruggs, Pat Metheny. or any number of others who have clearly achieved mastery over their instruments, and are determined to demonstrate it every possible moment.
