I have three but I only use all of them if I have a nasty cold and don't want to lie flat.
Most of the time I sleep on my side and use one pillow strategically scrunched up between my head and one shoulder. Sometimes a second pillow is at my back. If my legs are sore, that second pillow goes between my knees.
All three are medium-soft microgel pillows.
