I disagree that positive emotions are always good. CONTEXT MATTERS.
Positive thinking can still be based on very false beliefs.
You can be, for example "Positive" that you are a chosen people, the only group a God picked out as superior, and be successful by surrounding yourself with others who believe the same, and at the same time, BE DEAD WRONG.
Our brains respond to stimuli and things we are told can be completely false that produce chemicals in our brains that give us euphoria even when the belief is false.
Even outside the issue of religion. I can tell you, that, at the time of my earnest desire to want Ann McCarthy as my girlfriend gave me a severe case of the warm and fuzzies and it felt good at the time. But no matter how much I wanted those good feelings, there was a real reality beyond my own personal desires, no matter how good that made me feel.
Belief in Santa and religion can produce very much the same false positives as my desire to want Ann as my girlfriend.
