I don't know how bad your knees are, it's all relative. But my knees have some problems.
I have done whole body vibration. I do one legged squat type things. Just lowering my body then raising it using just one leg. If I use two legs it must be something to do with my knee alignment, but the stronger leg ever so slightly twists the weaker leg's knee out of position. Just enough to cause twangs of pain for a while.
It's probably bullshit but I used the machine anyway because I thought it couldn't hurt. It might help work on balance because you feel like you're being vibrated off balance and your body muscles are working to try and correct yourself.
The best exercises I found for my knees are leg extensions on the weight machine. I only use about 40 pounds, and do 15 or so reps but try and do them slowly and deliberately and not extend too far. The cross trainer seems to have no ill effect on my knees either due to lack of impact.
But knees seem to be very temperamental and unique, what helps mine might fuck yours up even more.
