Historical claims need evidence as well. Why do you think historians don't believe in Julius Caesar's divinity or the enslavement of the Jews in Egypt? Because there's no evidence to support those statements. Any statement that makes an assertion about reality needs evidence, or one is being unreasonable in believing it. Have you ever read a history book? Go look in the back at all the sources of evidence that are cited.
The thing about historical evidences is you can't say evidence for something won't be found just because it isn't found right now. We are learning and discovering many things each day.
And until the evidence is found, you're being unreasonable if you believe an assertion. Additionally, absence of evidence IS evidence of absence if it's a situation where we should definitely be finding evidence.
If I say that yesterday a bear tore up my yard and took a huge shit on my doorstep, then you examine my yard to find it pristine and zero stains or smells or shit-nuggets on my doorstep - that's not only a lack of evidence, that's evidence that the event did not happen as I claimed.
You can say "i don't need evidence for my beliefs" allllll you want pooley, it's not something new, just don't expect to be taken seriously by anyone.
