Asking evidence for God isn't a strawman, that doesn't even make any sense.
But it is a waste of time 99% of the time because 99% of the time God is defined in such a way that he is indistinguisable from nonexistence . . .
. . . or i.e. God is unfalsifiable, so it's not possible for there to be any evidence for God.
But as silly as it is to ask for evidence for X when evidence isn't possible for X, it's even sillier to believe in X when it's impossible for there to be any evidence for X, because that's identical to it being impossible for you to rationally believe in X, and yet you still believe.
