Just to add to my previous statement . . . the "punishment of the world" part of these prophesies had nothing to do with Rome. They specifically targeted atheists and communists. During the time, atheism and communism were huge threats, as the Soviet Union was gaining power as part of the Allied forces and as enemy of Germany. Everyone thought it would spread to the rest of the world. Some pope (can't remember which) officially announced that the crisis was averted because of the fall of the Soviet Union, if I remember rightly.
Absolutely, but this is bullshit about bullshit. They have actually taking what a bunch of lying kids and a lying pope said and fed it even more lies. Bunch of freaking idiots. Even if the Vatican was destroyed tomorrow, I would call it coincidence. It is a prime target for terrorism, after all. I would say it could be destroyed any day.
