I usually start people at 6/10 or 7/10, giving them a mild benefit of a doubt and room to grow in my estimation of them as I get to know them better.

The exception is when I get a strong, creepy negative impression right off the bat. Those people start at about a 3 and I tend to be much more guarded around them.
