I don't have a number scale. I just watch and wait to see how people act. I've had subordinates assigned to me where I was told that they were a problem child. Most times all they needed was a little room to find their own level, and they were fine. Some came to me highly recommended, only to find out that management was "passing the trash". That's an HR term for a problem child who nobody wants to get off the dime with and actually fire. They usually have a friend in upper management who will intercede for them with HR, behind my back.
I'm like Vorlon with the shit list. One has to work to get on it, because I understand that not everything a person is done out of malice. When you're on my list, you know it, because I make no bones about it. Kissing my ass doesn't work, because people think that they can fuck up big, smooch butt, and then go right back to fucking up. They have to straighten up and fly right for awhile before they have a chance to be considered for de-listing. I don't have a lot of friends, but those I do have I treasure.
