This section was up before I had really watched anything.
You're right, there is a section that says "We recommend......because you watched......" but that's something separate.
As soon as you get on netflix without selecting anything there's things like trending, brit comedy, drama, films with a strong female lead.
I just read on a feminist website
All I think about that is that I've never thought the gender of the main character as being important to if I like the film or not. For example I hate the Logan films because I think Wolverine is over exposed as a character, I'd watch a film with storm from xmen who's a female black woman as the leading main character. But I wouldn't be thinking "I can't wait to watch this film with a female black lady."
I think family guy mentioned this on one of their recent episodes, if I remember right they had some guy about to watch TV saying something like "I hope there's a lot of diversity in this show I'm about to watch" maybe it was the emmy winning episode one.
I don't know anyone who sits down and watches a show thinking "I sure hope females are presented as strong characters in this film and there's enough ethnic minorities"
I might have already watched this, I watched one that was about prostitution in the UK. I've been killing the documentaries on there because I think they're my favourite option.
