How can you be sure that without a brain you can't feel or think at all? Animals and plants have different bodies and they eat different, but they still both eat. Maybe plants have some inferior feelings and we don't know that. I'm not sure if this is true, it may be false. Science changes, what we were sure that it was true might be proven false some day. And even if they don't have feelings, they're still living things. Animals have a lesser power of reasoning, yet you still feel bad fo them. How can you not feel bad for a living thing who doesn't have emotions?
Brain is what we know sentience, emotions, feelings come from. If youre trying to say one does not require a brain for that, the burden of proof is on you.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
