Are you unable to admit that there is serious violence going on, and that as a human being it all seems very uncomfortable? Obviously if a god existed maybe he is a sadistic fucker. It's not like my level of comfort would have any sort of determining effect on god. It just seems that the constant "prince of peace" line gets sabotaged a little what with all the scourgings and gang-raping.
No, not a mere real estate deal gone wrong. The nations and people of the nations were saved by God, freed by the wrong already rampant in the world. But instead of following God and choosing what is right, they choose to satisfy themselves with what is not God. The justice may be uncomfortable but what other change can come, when the change(God) that did come, is rejected? If you read all of ezekial 23, it tells of what his nations did and since it is spoken to a prophet(no prophet should be acknowledge if what he says does not come true) it is prophesy.
Maybe pain is the only way to affect us or influence us. It may be uncomfortable but could experience come through coddling or knowing nothing is wrong.
