How am I arguing for my own team? I said it was another "what the fuck is a catch in the NFL?" moment.
The catch was reviewed by the NFL HQ back in New York, since this was a touchdown call, and they all get reviewed. Apparently they thought it wasn't a catch. I can understand their reasoning, after watching it in slow motion. He wasn't established as a runner, so breaking the plane is irrelevant. He was going to the ground, the ball was wobbling, and it hit the ground at the end. Even if he had his hands on it, you aren't allowed to use the ground to secure the ball when going to the ground. Ergo, incomplete.
The rule is subjective, so yeah, sometimes it goes one way, sometimes it goes another way. Until the rule is changed you'll get these "catches that aren't catches". The Steelers had another chance to score a TD or take the game to overtime, instead they threw a pick.
