Why? If you know seat belts work and air bags work, and you know speeding could catch a cop's eye, why would you do something stupid?
Of course they are going to rest them, because the MORE important goal is to win in the playoffs and win the Superbowl.
What good does it do your team if they lose a key player in a meaningless game? Yea it sucks as a viewer, but as strategy decision, it makes sense.
