below is a wiki page that lists out all the times in the bible (New and OT) where the church is considered the "Bride of Christ."

As you can see it has NEVER Changed. The "wife" of God has always been the church. What has changed is your source material has never read the bible and they are just speculating how people without knoweledge or understanding do.
