Love is in our brains (particularly our limbic systems, which we have in common with other mammals), and we at least have enough of those to type responses to your queries. It's literally how we feel everything. Imagining a 'soul' on top of that doesn't change the way we feel by a jot or a tittle.
This isn't a mystery. An icepick to the right part of your brain can sever the part of you that loves your spouse or child. If you loved 'with your soul', a physical injury could not change that.
Love is real because it is a feeling, and you really feel that feeling. That it's chemical and electrical in nature doesn't keep you from feeling it, or from being real. In fact, it's nonsensical that adding 'just a bunch of spirit stuff' to it would make it more real than it already is. It would be like enhancing the flavor of your cereal by sprinkling invisible immaterial pixie dust on it. You have to show that it exists in the first place to be able to claim it makes a difference.
^^^THIS^^^ In spades. Emotions are a brain function. There are thousands of documented cases of people losing emotions after a brain injury - in fact, that's why lobotomies were created. This would never happen if emotions were a function of a "soul". Kudos, MA!
