I don't believe in souls...so...I can't make sense out of that.

It takes time Lad.
We all have been through that demented stage  but at the end we all wake up and grow up.  
Stage one......get rid of the dogma that your body-brain is you.
Stage two......start working on your consciousness so it will come natural that there is a gold mine of consciousness within.
Stage three....now the realization that you are behind destruction come natural as the effort goes on.
Stage four......now you are out the mental sewer.
Stage five......now you are the real you......I AM........I AM IMMORTAL.........
