Wal Mart increases starting wage

Don't pretend you aren't aware of the difference. An increased minimum wage affects all employees. A company doing it only affects their employees.

And? Isn't an increase to some better than an increase to none?

Also there's no reason to make this partisan, if a Republican government raised the minimum wage most people would hail that as a great achievement too. Politics isn't a game.

Why do people here think an increase in the starting wage of the largest employer is meaningless, if not due to partisanship?

You cannot ignore the fact that Walmart are letting thousands of employees go at the same time they are increasing their wages. That's what makes this "worthless".

Isn't a layoff in underperforming areas and a raise plus bonuses everywhere else better than a layoff in underperforming areas alone?

Please stop. That is what you have bought, not what has to be.

INVESTMENT is what creates jobs, not corporate welfare. 

Regulations are what mandated seat belts and eventually air bags, car companies DID NOT go out of business because of those regulations.

AND AGAIN, THE CRAP you have been sold, always gets negated by inflation AND the debt created by corporate welfare.
