Here's the recipe I use. All you need is a stovetop and a pot to make the sugar, egg yolk and milk custard (maybe it could be made in a microwave, but I've never tried it), plus a dish to assemble it in. The mascarpone cheese is the most expensive and hard-to-get ingredient. I made a half-recipe at Christmas, using just 1 package of lady finger cookies, and added both spiced rum and Kahlua to the coffee before soaking the cookies in it. Pro tip: Don't soak the cookies too long before transferring them to the main dish, or they'll crumble. Soak them for a few seconds, cut edge down, then immediately put them into the dish.
