Trolley Problem/Consistency in Ethics

A toddler is walking down the rail road tracks. A train is fast approaching. You have just enough time to push the toddler off the tracks but you will be killed. Would you sacrifice yourself?

I would not. Because in this oversimplified scenario no other humans exist. I would be dead. The toddler would die of starvation/ thirst. If I did not sacrifice myself I would be alive to ponder the fate of the only human alive. The runaway train will eventually run out of fuel.

That's an awfully convoluted explanation.  How bout, "lolno, ever met a toddler?"

I had to go to urban dictionary to look up "lolno". So yes, I was once a toddler, have 3 kids, and an 18 month old grandchild. Have worked as a pediatric nurse. Still, there are two humans in this scenario.
