Even the .32 will punch a hole in two layers of drywall. It won't have a lot of energy left, but could still do damage. A .40 or 9mm slug will kill you outright if it hits anything vital, even after passing through two layers of drywall.
I thought he said .38 but it was 1:50am, I had been woken up by a gun shot, was running off fear, was holding my 3 month old in a death grip, and standing in the cold so I may have misheard lol
So update;
I called the apartment complex office at 8:30 to leave a message for when they opened at 10am. They finally called me back at 11:20 saying they hadn't heard anything about this happening and wanted to know everything about it. I told them and he was asking if I saw the "get away" car to which I said no I was scared that if they saw my curtains move they would know I had seen them but I did see the second car that drove away ten minutes later. I didn't know it they were related but leaving at 1:40am on a weekday ten minutes after a gun went off was strange. He said yeah but what about the first car. I wanted to go no you dense fucker I already told you I didn't. He asked for a police report number and I said I didn't file a report I just called them, they took my info, and I went back inside. He asked if my yard faces buildings 7 & 8 and I'm like I have no idea I don't keep track of the other building numbers I just know what I already told you, my apartment faces the road not the courtyard. I feel like they should have the layout of the complex and not need to ask which buildings my apartment faces, I mean they had an hour and a half to look up where my apartment was since I said it in the voicemail.
I also told him my neighbor had come outside saying he heard the gunshot too so he might have more info and they were like which neighbor. I said the one I share a wall with. "What number is that" Dude once again I.Don't.Pay.Attention.To.Things.That.Aren't.Mine. You should know which apartment is the one I share a wall with, there is only one. He seemed on the verge of panic himself. I don't think he was very high up on the totem pole and had to report all this to the head honcho.

I read the title and thought you meant outside.
Stay safe.
Do they have security cameras?
We don't have any on our apartment buildings but I'm not sure about the front gate. They might be able to at least ID the car if they do since there is only one way in and out of the complex and that is through security gates.
