Proof if anything that religion wrecks the same devastation on the brain as a lifetime of hard drugs.

But that would be because they act in similar ways.

The more I learn about how religionists think the more I realise that they should be considered mentally ill.

If it were to be classified as a mental illness (and good luck getting it into the DSM), it would have to also be classified as an endemic condition because of the way it clusters in groups and its vector of transmission.  It would be more accurate to call it a sociological disease rather than a psychological one.
