Dumb irrational people like you do that . Smart rational  people like us go with evidence and only the evidence were ever it leads .Even if the conclusion is undesirable .

Yes, people want to sin and not feel guilty, so the don't believe and then rationalize their lack of belief.

Seems like a couple times a year some newbie atheist comes on and starts a thread about how they still fear hell and want convincing that it's not real.

Duh it sometimes takes years to get over religious indoctrination . Deprogramming someone from a cult is the same way.
