The gratuitous use of vulgarity is like defacing buildings with graffiti and littering the streets with garbage. I am not a prude and I do not take offense. I appreciate clever insults that may include coarse language. I have no respect for people who think they are clever when they display the intelligence of a paperweight and the vocabulary of 8-year-olds in a tree house swearing club. But I am saddened that some people treat AF like a ghetto and force everyone else to stroll through their filth.
Yes, Neo, we recognize that you're a conservative fucktard who views anything which he disagrees with as the clarion call signalling the start of the apocalypse, but the fact is that so-called vulgarity is simply a subset of accepted language used by a language community which you would like to castigate. Your condemning a language community because its standards of what is acceptable do not agree with yours simply makes you a bigoted asshole. We could compare the use of such so-called vulgarity to destructive graffiti, or we could liken it to a difference in taste among lawn ornaments in a particular neighborhood. Analogies like yours are nothing more than assertions in disguise, so all you've really said is that you consider your standards the correct ones to hold, and the standards of others to be wrong. (Did I mention that you're a bigoted asshole?) No, vulgarity isn't a symptom of the collapse of civilization, nor is it a symptom of a sub-par intellect. It's just a sign that different people have different standards than you do. Big shock. If you had made some other argument for banning vulgarity, you might have had a point. But as it stands, the only real argument you are making is, "Me good! You bad!" Sorry if I don't agree.
