You make a good point that its not a simple calculus, and I try not to judge too harshly.
My issue is with devout Christians dismissing Trump's actions and/or acting as though he's some sort of righteous Christian man.
If someone supports Trump because they genuinely feel he is decent at doing his job as president (personal life asside), and that's all that matters to them, I can be okish with that.

That's fine for us atheists....but for these supposed moral paragons it is hypocrisy of the worst kind. But hypocrisy has never been a big problem for them.
I can see Min's point here as well. We should hold devout Christians to a higher standard.

I don't have a problem with those who begrudgingly voted for Trump because they saw him as the lesser of 2 evils. I may not agree with their decision, but it doesn't effect their character to me.
But I find myself very frustrated with those who value Christian principles but then actually claim Trump somehow represents Christian principles. From what it seems, Trump represents nothing but himself, and is for nothing but himself. There is nothing more anti Christian than that.
I don't think they are claiming he has values/principles, but they support him because (for christian political power) he is willing to push the christian nation agenda.
Kinda of like making a deal with the devil. Be careful christian america, you may be at the crossroads selling your soul.
Yeah, that's dumb too. A "Christian Nation" should start off first and foremost with a president who is honorable and lives his life as a follower of Christ, and with people who arent going to compromise their principles for the sake of politics or power.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
