I dunno how you can tell. I think it probably is based on the pattern. I wouldn't call him a liar though. I was just saying elsewhere how I am never able to tell whether someone is lying or not and I think it's because of my autism. I dunno how other people do it. And I am not gonna trust my judgement too much when I often get called a liar when I know I'm not (and it really frustrates me if I care about the person saying it)....
...I just see a pattern that just seems so consistently misrepresenting everyone that I can't think of another explanation besides him doing it on purpose.
And I'm stumped as to why he got voted by so many people as a good debater. I think he's really crap at it and makes a lot of non-sequiturs. I remember having a disagreement with him years ago.... where over and over and over again he was saying my argument was invalid when I kept telling him that I was playing devil's avocate and was showing him an argument that was valid but not sound... and he kept saying it wasn't valid... like he didn't know the difference.
A few months ago I reminded him of that debate, and he said he said to me "I was pulling your leg" or something like that. and he completely admitted that he knew my argument was valid but was saying it wasn't just to annoy me... well, okay, maybe he doesn't lie but when he miresreprents people he thinks it's funny and he is 'pulling their leg'. Seems pretty shit to me. I don't like his style at all, lol. So when he makes crap arguments and doesn't even bother to characterize other people's positions correctly... he just says it's all a joke? And that makes him a good debater? Lol. He just spouts irrelevant facts that have nothing to do with the argument and shit. God. Yeah. Not a fan. Lol.
I wouldn't hold it against him if he was simply stupid. You can't help stupidity.
Pulling your leg, or otherwise doing it to annoy IS being dishonest in discussion.
