Here’s the thing: even positive/gnostic atheism in and of itself has no doctrine. There’s no inherent demand or order in any flavor of atheism to eliminate religious practice altogether. No, such acts committed by a state are simply a way to oppress, homogenize, and control people. It’s really no different than our history of forcing slaves or indigenous peoples to practice Christianity rather than their own beliefs.
