We don't all have to be Scholars to be apart of the church. Reminds me of the teach of One body many parts. meaning if each of us was apart of the body of Christ we could not all have the same function/description otherwise the body would be usless.
If the whole body fit the definition of an ear then we as the body of Christ/Church could not see. if we all followed the rules of the hand then we wold not be able to eat sit or walk.
Each of us are different and it is to that difference we are responsible.
What people like doonesbury doesn't understand is Christianity's fundamentals are completely different from catholicism and Judaism. We are not made to reach for a given bar. we are expected to find our role in the church and honor that role and the differences there in, while respecting the differences between us as members of the same body, in an individual church and on the broader scale of denominations.
