Yeah, atheist religions is kind of a fuzzy area. Like Buddhism doesn't have a typical creator god, but the Buddha is still revered. Taoism has various ideas of divine energy and whatnot (I actually like the more touchy-feely, Yoda/Mr. Miyagi aspects of Taoism, specifically trying to live a simple, balanced life both internally and in relationship with nature). Etc.
In my experience, when theists talk about atheistic religions, they tend to be talking about those groups that consciously mimic Christian church gatherings. The people who still gather every Sunday at a certain place and sing songs, recite various quotes and verses, etc. My personal view of those groups is mixed... I cannot tell if it's satirical theater, or an actual way for people who were once so entrenched in their religion to wean themselves off of it. In any case, they're certainly not representative of atheism on the whole.
