Put a piece of toilet paper over the sensor. My cousin's grandkid got freaked out when the loo flushed on him back in the day, and we figured out a fix. The kid made a big deal out of covering the "eye" for a few days.
I do that if the eye is in the right place. Just how lazy have we become that we can't pull a handle or push a button to flush away our excrement? It could be worse. I used a road side/rest area in France. All they had was a hole in the concrete floor with no paper in sight. In Crete, Greece the shite laden paper is put in a bin just by the loo. Wtf over? Flies, flies, flies.. In Nigeria, they don't use paper at all and they look down on us for using paper. Cultural differences abound.
