Men who don't flush public toilets

Truck stop bathrooms are the worst I've ever seen. And oh, those auto-flush toilets waste huge amounts of water, often flushing several times before you ever finish.

Put a piece of toilet paper over the sensor. My cousin's grandkid got freaked out when the loo flushed on him back in the day, and we figured out a fix. The kid made a big deal out of covering the "eye" for a few days.

I discovered the tissue trick a few years ago. Nothing like having one's junk sprayed with fecal-matter tainted water. A "nice" feature of the auto-flush sinks and toilets is that when the battery fails, the valve goes wide open. I went in to work one Monday morning only to hear a toilet running full force in the lady's room. The thing had probably run all weekend. No handle to jiggle, so I took a piece of stainless steel bar left over from a tool I designed and tapped gently   on the valve until it stopped, and then called maintenance. They replaced it with a flush handle. The plumber told me that it was code on new construction to use the auto-flushing stuff to save water, but they were worse in the long run, so they replaced them as they went bad with conventional hardware.
